In 1973, the single "More Than You Deserve" (b/w "Presence Of The Lord") was released on Robert Stigwood’s RSO label. The song was taken from Jim Steinman’s musical of the same name, and performed by Meat Loaf, who also played in the musical. The tune resurfaced on Meat Loaf’s "Dead Ringer" album from 1981.
Jim Steinman, 1981: It was a piece of shit... they wouldn’t let me in the studio.
He describes the single flip-side as: One of the most bizarre things I’ve ever heard.

More Than You Deserve

From the very first moment I saw you
I knew our love would be so strong
And the very first moment I kissed you
I knew our joy would last so long

Then I saw you making love to my best friend
I didn’t know whatever to say
I saw you making love to my best friend
So I looked him right in the eyes, and I said:

Won’t you take some more
It’s what you came for
And don’t mind me–I won’t throw you no curves
Have yourself a ball with my good woman

Won’t you take some more boy?
It’s more than you deserve
Won’t you take some more boy?
It’s more than you deserve

When I saw you hanging ‘round the truck stop
Shining like an angel in the night
And when I saw you crying like a baby
I knew you’d had to be my wife

Then I saw you making love to my best friend
I didn’t know whatever to say
I saw you making love to my best friend
So I looked him right in the eyes, and I said:

Won’t you take some more?
It’s what you came for
Don’t mind me–I won’t throw you no curves
Have yourself a ball with my good woman

Won’t you take some more boy?
It’s more than you deserve
Won’t you take some more boy?
It’s more than you deserve

Now I think I’m gonna have to leave you
Because I’m feeling much to weak to share
And the pie, oh, it’s cut in to many pieces
The flavor that I crave is no longer here

Then I saw you making love to two of my best friends
I didn’t know whatever to say
I saw you making love to a group of my best friends
So I looked them right in the eyes and I said:

Listen here, group–

Won’t you take some more?
It’s what you came for
And don’t mind me–I won’t throw you no curves
Have yourself a ball with my good woman

Won’t you take some more boy?
It’s more than you deserve
Won’t you take some more boy?
It’s more than you deserve....

(repeat with adlibs to fade)

Presence of the Lord

I have finally found a way to live
Just like I never could before
I know that I don’t have much to give
But I can open any door

Everybody knows the secret
Everybody knows the score
I have finally found a way to live
In the presence of the Lord
(in the presence of the Lord)

I have finally found a way to live
Just like I never could before
I know that I don’t have much to give
But I can open any door

Everybody knows the secret
Everybody knows the score
I have finally found a way to live
In the presence of the Lord
In the presence of the Lord....

I have finally found a way to live
Just like I never could before
I know–oh I know–I don’t have much to give
But I can open any door

Everybody knows the secret
Oh everybody–everybody knows the score
I–I finally found a way to live
In the presence of The Lord
Oh, in the presence of The Lord.....
