Bring Me the Head of Jerry Garcia

Bring me the head of Jerry Garcia
He plays guitar like diarrhea
He’s dumb as a doorknob and a ton overweight
That’s why they call him the dreadful grate

He can’t fingerpick because his hand’s incomplete
He needs two drummers just to find the beat
His words are as solid as a cloud of smoke
If that guy is deep, then I’m the pope!

Bring me the head
Bring me the head
Bring me the head of Jerry Garcia!

Bring me the head
Bring me the head
Bring me the head of Jerry Garcia!

Dead!
Head!
Yeah …

Bring me the head of the Grateful Dead
His fans think the nineties are the sixties instead
From ‘Frisco to Red Rocks, from the White House to Wembley
They dance around in circles like a Moonie assembly

They eat lots of reds and vitamin C
They drink cheap wine laced with LSD
They drop and snort but without any luck
Because whatever they’re on–the Dead still suck!

Bring me the head
Bring me the head
Bring me the head of Jerry Garcia!

Bring me the head
Bring me the head
Bring me the head of Jerry Garcia!

Dead!
Head!
Dead!
Head!
Dead …

Quotes regarding Jim Steinman and Iron Prostate

Years back I put out a 7" with my then band, Iron Prosate, with this song. We later rerecorded it for Jim Steinman who does Meatloaf and Celine Dion.

Go to my website for the link to the mp3 at: http://www.georgetabb.com

It's really funny...and the chorus from "Cats" sings the back-up vocals. No shit! This version was never released but cost tons of "development" money!
I just got a hold of copy myself!

As for the "development money"..it was all Steinman's and I think MCA's money. As for who "really" paid for it....as usual..the artist. That's me. I'm the one who signed on the dotted line. As for their payback? They sued me for breach of contract and demanded the over 100 grand for the demo. Did they get paid? From me? Ha! I sued 'em back for breach of management. So everyone is free and clear.

I'll post for stuff next week when I get back from Vegas. We have like 6 more songs from those sessions. They sound good for like $600 bucks an hour at the Powerstation!

But, ssssh, don't tell anyone or that Bon Jovi guy will wanna break my legs!

The production is way over the top. 48 tracks I think? Who knows. And that was back in '93.

Jim Steinman, Punk Rocker?

I dunno...but he produced one of my songs called "Bring Me The Head Of Jerry Garcia" now up on my site with plenty of other tunes...one produced by Don Fury. Funny thing about the Garcia song...Steinman brought in the cast from "Cats" to sing "Dead! Head! Dead! Head!" Most expensive demo I ever did. George Tabb

Just Another Could’ve Been by George Tabb

In my case, after starting a handful of semi-successful bands, I ended up being managed with my band, Iron Prostate, by Jim Steinman, Meatloaf’s songwriter. He also works with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and has written many hit songs that you know. He saw talent in me, but not really my band. Unable to fire my band for a publishing deal, eventually I was sued because I wouldn’t get rid of my friends who I mistakenly treated like family. When it all went to shit, and we signed with Hilly Krystal of CBGB, Jeff’s old manager, the whole band quit anyway. They were upset about no more lobster dinners and private limos and lots of cocaine. Of course, as it turns out, I was paying for it anyway. Like everyone else who gets signed.
